You may be in luck. We've had three late cancellations for our swim camp in Dover from the 11th to the 17th of October. Those three swimmers have picked up injuries so that's three places now available for 7 days of coaching by the most experienced open water team there is. It includes up to 26 hours of swimming, two opportunities to do six hour or relay qualifying assessments and seminars which will tell you all you need to know. We are proud of what our swimmers achieve. As one said recently:"You are dream makers." Find out why. Details on: thekingsswimmers.co.uk ... See MoreSee Less

I am chuffed to bits to be the first British person to have completed the Around Charleston Swim 20 km in South Carolina on Sunday 24th September 2025.21 solos and 5 Relay teams, air was 22 and the water was 28 with a brisk NE wind.We were supported by Kayakers, safety boats and a Police launch.Couple of hours was like swimming in Dover Harbour on a bad day, but I enjoyed that part.Mentally it was a tough swim with the unexpected happening along the way, which you couldn't even write about and at one point I was thinking about the Alligators when we passed the marshes but I kicked that into touch.I didn't think I could learn much more about swimming an unknown route and coping with everything that was thrown at me at 3hrs and 1 min, but I am proud I overcame everything.Thank you for making me so welcome, thank you to Kathleen for organising the event, Steve and his cousin George for running me around and showing me the course. ... I’m back. Some of you may have seen me (or on Facebook) among the swimmers on the seafront in Dover. That is thanks to you the wonderfully generous friends who contributed to the appeal on my behalf to pay for spinal surgery. I am both staggered and humbled by the generosity. Without it I would still be flat on my back, unable to walk because my spinal cord was being crushed by two vertebrae — damage that was the result of a bad fall when I slipped on dead jellyfish while feeding a swimmer from a beach. The knowledge that I have so many friends who care so much was a huge boost to my morale. It still is. It helped greatly when I was coping with being unable to walk and is helping now as I slowly return to normal. You inspire me.The op has been a success. The sciatic pain has gone. I’m not yet running or walking up and down the beach without assistance but the wheelchair has been parked and I can walk almost upright. I do get tired very quickly and I have chronic backache but I know it will improve. It's better day by day.The surgeon told me originally that I'd be able to swim two weeks after the surgery but that's been put back a couple of weeks. I doubt if he’s thinking in terms of hours in the sea but there’s nothing for me to worry about.I know, because I tried, that I would still be waiting for a first assessment by the NHS and NHS surgery could have been up to a year away. So once again, a great big thank you. Please keep in contact. ... See MoreSee Less

It passed by almost unnoticed but the legend that is Nora Toledano swam the Channel on Wednesday in a time (subject to ratification) of 11hrs 20mins. That's very little different from her last Channel swim 20 years ago. The CS&PF observer was our Sue McHugh. ... See MoreSee Less
